Mayor Dave Hodgson has wished everyone a Happy Bedfordshire Day, and declared that he is 'proud of Bedfordshire and proud that Bedford is the county town.' The Bedfordshire flag has been flying from Borough Hall all day and, at Mayor Dave's suggestion, the staff canteen has been serving Bedfordshire Clangers and Chocolate Toothpaste!
Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have today launched their campaign to freeze fares for Bedford rail users.
It was World Homeless Day last week, and in his regular email update, Mayor Dave Hodgson thanked volunteers and organisations helping to support rough sleepers and tackle homelessness locally. He also shared a video from his recent visit to SMART Prebend Day Centre's open day, where Lisa from SMART listed the items they are asking people to donate at the moment. The new Coronavirus walk-in testing centre, located at the Polhill Campus Car Park, on Polhill Avenue, is operating on a walk-in basis, for anybody in the borough who needs a test. It will be open every day providing testing for students at the University and local residents. It expands on the local testing availability currently provided at Borough Hall and Prebend Street car parks in the town.
Fewer than one in ten adults are now smoking in Bedford Borough according to latest figures collated as part of the Annual Population Survey.
