New Fountain at Bedford Park Lake

Bedford Park lake received a new fountain last week, just in time for the onset of spring. The new fountain, which aerates the water of the lake, provides an aesthetic cascade in the Victorian grounds of Bedford Park, which opened on 11th July 1888. Initial attempts to fix the broken fountain pump revealed the entire structure needed replacing, at a cost of £4000.

Hydro Power Plant Exceeds Savings Projections for Local Taxpayers

The pioneering Hydro Power facility at the Boatslide Weir Bridge on the River Great Ouse in Bedford has exceeded income generation expectations for 2014. When the facility, which uses 'Archimedes Screw' trechnology to generate renewable energy from the fall between the upper and lower river, was opened in 2012, the estimated income generation was £32,000. However, between 01/01/14 and 31/12/14 the Hydro Power facility generated £33,400.

Good News for Stewartby Residents

In good news for Stewartby residents, a significant change has been announced for the planned power station at Rookery South Pit. Instead of building six new 45m pylons, Millbrook Power have decided to install an underground cable feed- hugely reducing the visual impact of the whole project.
