Mayor's Village Tour 2014 - Final Surgeries Tonight

Having already held open street surgeries in 59 villages across Bedford Borough, Mayor Dave Hodgson will tonight visit Clapham, Oakley and Bromham on the final evening of his 2014 Village Tour. Mayor Dave's summer village tour has been a regular feature during his time as Mayor, and is intended to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible across the Borough's rural areas to talk to him about the issues that matter to them. This year's event started in Ravensden back on the evening of Thursday 17th July, and will conclude tonight with the final surgery in Bromham at 7.30.

New East West Rail Report Outlines Need for Extension to Cambridge and Beyond

With work to link Oxford and Bedford as part of East-West Rail now underway, Lib Dem Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed a new report which identifies the huge economic benefit of extending the scheme to Cambridge. The report published this week by the East West Rail Consortium, of which Bedford Borough Council is a member along with other local authorities along the route, states that the it will deliver an economic benefit of up to around £750 million, and could see a direct train link enabling journey times between Cambridge and Bedford of just 24 minutes.
