Brand new Cafe for Mowsbury Park - Bringing Facilities Back into Public Use

Mowsbury Park in Bedford is set to become an even more attractive location for visitors, with a brand new café opening in a council building being brought back into use twenty years on from when it was last open to the public. Four Seasons Café, in Mowsbury Park, will open its doors for the first time at 11am on Saturday 23rd August, with a fun day and mini charity fete. Its opening is another key step in the Council's drive under Mayor Dave Hodgson to bring public facilities into public use and make its award winning parks even more enjoyable for those who use them.

New East West Rail Report Outlines Need for Extension to Cambridge and Beyond

With work to link Oxford and Bedford as part of East-West Rail now underway, Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed a new report which identifies the huge economic benefit of extending the scheme to Cambridge. The report published this week by the East West Rail Consortium, of which Bedford Borough Council is a member along with other local authorities along the route, states that the it will deliver an economic benefit of up to around £750 million, and could see a direct train link enabling journey times between Cambridge and Bedford of just 24 minutes.

Plans for Savage Hospital Downgrade are 'as Unjustifiable as they are Shocking'

In his latest monthly article for the Times and Citizen newspaper Mayor Dave Hodgson has written of his disgust at the proposals from NHS Commissioners to 'rip essential hospital services put from our community'. In the article a Mayor Dave describes the plans as 'as unjustifiable as they are shocking' and repeats his call for the community to come together in support of the campaign to save Bedford Hospital as we know it. Mayor's A Level Congratulations for Borough Students

Mayor Dave Hodgson has congratulated local students and school and college staff following the publication of A Level exam results. The results across Bedford Borough showed more local students achieving top grades, in the face of the widely-reported national decline in A* and A grades.
